Seminar for students "The transition from ‘science-push’ models of public engagement to ‘demand-responsive’ approaches to public policy and civic engagement"

Institutional greetings from Alessandra Petrucci (rector of the University of Florence) and Alessandro Chiaramonte (director of Dipartimento di Scienze Politiche e Sociali - DSPS).

The seminar addresses the issue of public engagement, which has become an increasingly important part of the evaluation of academic and university performance in recent years.

The focus of the meeting is the transition from a science-push approach (the results of the research are communicated and explained to the general public at the end of the research itself) to a demand-responsive approach (the research is born and developed to meet the needs and priorities of end users).

The meeting will be held in English.

Participation in the seminar entitles you to the recognition of 1 CFU subject to the approval of the CdS. Reservation required.

Tuesday 12 November, at 5 pm | Aula Magna del Rettorato, piazza San Marco, 4 - Firenze
Meeting open to public "Knowledge Mobilisation: what it is and how to go about it"

The workshop addresses two related themes. The first concerns the roles and strategies that academics can adopt in interacting with policy recipients. The second collects the questions that researchers should ask themselves when collaborating with professionals to mobilize knowledge.

The meeting is held in English with simultaneous translation.
