Steinhardt, professor of physics and astrophysics at Princeton University, is renowned for his research in particle physics, astrophysics, cosmology, condensed matter physics, and geoscience. The seminar, reserved for students, focuses on quasicrystals, unusual materials with symmetries once thought impossible for matter. The lesson will describe decades of adventures in search of quasicrystals, in nature and other exotic environments, through one of the strangest scientific stories ever told so far.Greetings and introduction by Duccio Fanelli (director of the Department of Physics and Astronomy)The lesson will be held in English and participants may request the validation of 1 credit (if allowed by the regulations of their programme).Reservation required.
