The University Corridors for Refugee (UNI-CO-RE) project aims to create safe and legal entry paths for refugee students.The project is carried out by the UNHCR and involves a number of Italian universities including the University of Florence (Unifi) in partnership with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.The project, addressed in previous editions (Unicore 2.0 and 3.0) to refugees living in Ethiopia; (Unicore 4.0) in Camerun, Niger e Nigeria; (Unicore 5.0) in Kenya, Niger, Nigeria, Sudafrica, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and in the last edition (Unicore 6.0) to refugees living in Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, aims at broadening secure and regular access pathways to Italy and providing an opportunity for education, taking into account the refugees’ legitimate aspirations to build their own future autonomously.Partners of the Unicore project are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Caritas Italiana, Diaconia Valdese, il Centro Astalli, Fondazione Finanza Etica e Gandhi Charity. The University of Florence is also supported locally by the Diaconia Valdese-CSD and the Centro Internazionale Studenti Giorgio La Pira.
