BREAKDOWN OF TRAINING ACTIVITIES AND POSSIBLE CURRICULA The course of study is organized into two curricula. The first called "Smart Industry" is based entirely on courses provided at the University of Florence. The second one called "International," is based on a structured international mobility agreement signed with HSLU Lucerne and includes at least a semester of study abroad (the first semester of the second year) and the award of a double engineering master’s degree, the Italian and the Swiss one. Access to the international curriculum requires participation in a special call for applications. The two curricula overlap the first year. For both curricula, the mandatory courses are almost all in the areas of operations management, industrial plant engineering, design and management of production processes and production systems, automation, as well as business economics and organization, innovation, and project management. In the first year, basic knowledge is also enhanced by delving into operations research and statistics for experiments and forecasting. The second year differentiates the two curricula. In the Smart Industry curriculum, this includes, in addition to some courses in the above-mentioned areas, a stage/traineeship activity, and the writing of a thesis. The thesis should be based on an industrial project and/or research activity and have characteristics of originality. In the International curriculum, on the other hand, the second year features courses to be selected from HSLU Lucerne's course offerings, a specialization project, and a co-tutored thesis activity supervised by two faculty members from each of the two universities. Teaching activities are planned in a blended mode up to a maximum of 1/3 of the ECTS and may involve innovative teaching methods such as the “flipped classroom”. The "Honours Program in Operations and Supply Chain Management" pathway is planned based on agreements stipulated with leading companies. Particularly deserving students will be admitted to this pathway, selected through competitive calls (“bandi”)issued based on the stipulated agreements and publicized on the website of the CdS. Upon successful participation in these educational activities, the student will be awarded a formative activity of the area E [Additional educational activities (art. 10, paragraph 5, letter d) - Other knowledge useful for the insertion in the world of work] with the CFUs provided for in the call (“bando”) from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 9. Upon resolution of the CU, a bonus of up to a maximum of 1 point will be awarded to be applied to the final test.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ENROLLING IN THE COURSE OF STUDY To enrol students must preliminarily request the enrolment clearance (nulla osta). A Commission, appointed by the President of the Courses of Studies in Industrial Engineering, reviews the request, for verification of curricular requirements and personal preparation requirements. Enrolment in the degree program requires possession of a certificate attesting to a B2 level of English which must be issued by an internationally accredited institution or by the University of Florence Language Centre (CLA) CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS Curricular requirements for admission to the course consist of a bachelor's degree in class L8 or L9 (or other degree acquired abroad and recognized as eligible), earned with at least 155 ECTS with grade. Among these 155 ECTSs a minimum number of ECTSs must be earned in specific learning areas as listed below. a) Mathematics for management engineering (SECS-S/01, SECS-S/03, MAT/06, MAT/09, ING-INF/04): minimum 15 ECTSs b) Economics and business management (ING-IND/35, SECS-P/08, SECS-P/09): minimum 6 ECTS c) Industrial plant management and production technologies (ING-IND/16, ING-IND/17): minimum 6 ECTS (b) + (c): minimum 18 ECTSs d) Energy engineering and energy management (ING-IND/10, ING-IND/11, INGIND/09, ING-IND/08, ING-IND/32, ING-IND/31): minimum 6 ECTS. PERSONAL PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS: For EU citizens and, in any case, for those who have obtained the degree required for access to the master's degree in an institution located in the countries of the European Union (as well as Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Republic of San Marino, Vatican City, Great Britain), the adequacy of personal preparation is verified through a written and/or oral test with the Commission. Bachelor's degree graduates in engineering management from the University of Florence with a career length of no more than 4 academic years and a weighted average greater than or equal to 23, or graduates with a career length of no more than 6 academic years but a weighted average greater than or equal to 25, are exempt from the verification interview. In assessing career length career, any academic years attended by the graduate as a part-time student shall be considered. For those who have obtained the degree required for access to the master's degree at an institution that is not located in the countries of the European Union (or in Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Republic of San Marino, Vatican City, Great Britain), preparation will be evaluated based on the weighted average of examination grades or, if not available, on the undergraduate grade, which must be above a threshold value. These values will be published annually at https://www.ing.mme.unifi.it/vp-160-enrollment.html
