Organized by: Università di Firenze

With Mark Van Loosdrecht (professor of Environmental biotechnology at the Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands)

as part of the "Unifi Chairs" project, Nobel Prizes, Excellency scholars, well -known experts in the thematic areas of transversal impact and interdisciplinary interest.

  • Tuesday 6 May, at 3 pm, Aula Magna del Rettorato, piazza San Marco, 4 - Firenze
Public seminar " Resource recovery from wastewater
The treatment of waste water has been originally developed with purely health objectives, to protect human health from the spread of diseases. Over time, the protection of the environment has been transformed among its main objectives. In the future, the treatment of waste water should also be integrated into a circular economy, fueling the demand for adequate technologies for this purpose.

Institutional greetings by Marco Pierini (vice-rector of Technology transfer, cultural activities and social impact) and by Gianni Bartoli (director of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering - DICEA).
Introduction by Claudio Lubello (professor of Health and environmental engineering, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering - DICEA)
The seminar will be held in English with simultaneous translation in Italian.

  • Wednesday 7 May, 2 pm, School of Engineering, Santa Marta, room 175, via di Santa Marta, 3 - Firenze
Student seminar " Scaling up the Aerobic Granular Sudge Technology
The aerobic granular mud is a recent innovative technology for the treatment of urban waste water. Thanks to a better sedimentation capacity of granular sludge compared to conventional active muds, the traditional wastewater treatment chain can be strongly simplified.

Institutional greetings by Debora Berti (vice-rector of Research) and Gianni Bartoli (director of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering - DICEA)
Introduction by Tommaso Lotti (professor of Health and environmental engineering, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering - DICEA)
The seminar will be held in English and the participants may request the validation of 1 CFU if required by the regulation of the programme.
    Reservation necessary.
