DMSC academics featured in the 2024 Highly Cited Researchers list For another year, DMSC researchers have ranked among the world's top-cited scientists. Renowned Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology expert, Professor Gian Maria Rossolini, alongside esteemed Haematology Professor Alessandro Maria Vannucchi, have once again been featured in the 2024 Highly Cited Researchers list.Produced by Clarivate Analytics, the Highly Cited Researchers report gathers the world's top-cited researchers from the last ten years. It is based on data collected by analysts at the Institute for Scientific Information, who recognised 6,886 highly cited researchers in 2024 from over 1,300 institutions in 59 countries and regions. In Italy, the ranking includes 106 researchers, accounting for 1 out of every 1,000 researchers worldwide.The ranking takes into account 21 subject areas. Rossolini, who leads the Departmental Organisational Structure (SOD) in Microbiology and Virology at Careggi University Hospital, is included in the Cross-Field.Vannucchi, leading the SOD Haematology at Careggi, has been included among the Highly Cited Researchers since 2017 in the field of 'Clinical Medicine', and is listed in the 'Top Italian Scientist List'.The evaluation and selection process followed by Clarivate Analytics is based on data from the Web of Science citation index, together with analysis performed by bibliometric experts and data scientists at Clarivate's Isi.
