November 27 marks the inauguration of a philatelic exhibition alongside a ceremony for a special cancellation Giovedì 21 novembre a Roma, nella Biblioteca del Ministero delle Imprese e del Made in Italy, è stato emesso e annullato un francobollo celebrativo del Centenario dell’Ateneo fiorentino. Si tratta di un francobollo ordinario da 1,25 euro, che ritrae l’ingresso del rettorato, appartenente alla serie tematica “Le Eccellenze del sapere” dedicata alla formazione dei giovani. On Thursday, 21st November, in Rome's Library of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, a stamp commemorating the Centenary of the University of Florence was issued and subsequently cancelled. It's a standard €1.25 stamp featuring the rectorate entrance, part of the thematic series 'The Excellencies of Knowledge,' dedicated to youth education. The ceremony, which included the issuance and subsequent cancellation of stamps from the University of Naples "Federico II" and the University of Trieste, was attended by the Rector Alessandra Petrucci (Florence), along with Rectors Matteo Lorito (Naples) and Roberto Di Lenarda (Trieste). Also present were the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, and the Minister of Economic Development, Adolfo Urso. In conjunction with this, on Wednesday, 27 November, the University of Florence commemorates its founding with a philatelic exhibition titled "Florence and its University", organized by the collector and philatelic expert Fabrizio Fabrini (opening at 3.30 pm, via Gino Capponi 9).Organised by the Department of History, Archaeology, Geography, Art and Entertainment (SAGAS), the exhibition features on its opening day a dedication ceremony for the special cancellation marking the Centenary of the University of Florence. The philatelic route, with free admission, will remain open until 17 January 2025 from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm. It narrates the University's history through the contribution of carefully selected stamps. Numerous exhibits focus on the University of Florence, depicting its evolution as an educational and cultural institution intimately tied to the city it calls home, highlighting pivotal moments and developmental phases up to today. The exhibition will showcase a collection of 250 international stamps alongside philatelic sheets, travelled and maximum postcards, pre-philatelics, as well as artist's proofs signed by their creators.For the occasion, from 12 to 6 pm, a special station run by Poste Italiane will be operational, featuring a distinctive philatelic cancellation commemorating the Centenary of the University of Florence.
