Call for best business initiatives open until 10 September Registration is now open for the 2024 edition of Start Cup Toscana, the competition that rewards the best high-tech entrepreneurial ideas, which this year will be organised by the University of Florence. “We are particularly pleased to be able to organise Start Cup Toscana in the year in which we celebrate the University’s centenary”, explains Marco Pierini, the University of Florence’s Vice-Dean for Technology Transfer, Cultural Activities and Social Impact. Our University is working very hard to stimulate its young people to exploit innovation ideas in an entrepreneurial way. This focus is embodied in the construction of activities, training and accompanying courses in which the economic, social and environmental value of scientific research is always placed at the centre. In this perspective, Start Cup Toscana is not only a competition, but also the crowning achievement of a process that starts from these assumptions and is nourished through dialogue with partners in the area and the innovation ecosystem”.Registration for Start Cup Toscana closes on 10 September. The best business plans will be selected to participate in the final event, scheduled for 14 October at the Dean’s Office (Piazza San Marco 4 - Florence). On that occasion, the jury will announce the winners of the competition, integrating the evaluation of the business plan with that of the oral presentation of the finalists’ projects. The 3 winners will receive a cash prize and access to the “Pni National Innovation Award”.Start Cup Toscana is organised by the Regional Technology Transfer Office in close cooperation with the Tuscan universities: in addition to the University of Florence, there are the University of Pisa, the University of Siena, the Università per Stranieri di Siena, the Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca, the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and the Scuola Normale Superiore.
