World University Rankings, published 2025 edition by disciplines

The University in the top 250 in two areas

The University of Florence is among the 250 best universities in the world in two disciplinary sectors, Arts and Humanities and Law, according to the World University Rankings By Subject 2025 by Times Higher Education (THE).

In particular, Law improves its position, compared to last year's ranking (from 251-300 to 201-250). The University is confirmed among the top 400 academic institutions in the world in LifeSciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences. 

In Italy, Florence is among the top 10 universities in 7 disciplines (Arts and Humanities, Computer Science, Education, Law, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences). In particular, compared to the last survey, there are improvements in 5 areas (Business and Economics, Computer Science, Education, Law and Social Sciences), the positioning in Physical Sciences unchanged. 

"It is a result of great prestige that confirms the authority recognized to the University for the quality of the research carried out by our professors – comments the rector Alessandra Petrucci -. It is a goal matured in an even more competitive context than in the past as the survey examined about 2 thousand academic institutions, a hundred more than last year".
